CHICAGO — The city's premiere music and sustainability festival, Green Music Fest, will add a third stage to commemorate its 8th anniversary, and organizers have just announced the first round of musical acts.
Playing at this year's fest will be Black Joe Lewis, King Khan & The Shrines, Langhorne Slim, Waxahatchee and BRONCO, organizers said in a press release Thursday.
The remaining acts, as well as stage times, will be announced at a later date.
The summer fest bills itself as a one-part music fest, one-part sustainability advocacy fest. It routinely books national touring acts while hosting vendors and other groups showing off ecological technology and products.
One of the fest's three stages is powered entirely by energy generated from people riding stationary bikes. Musical acts are booked by Subterranean music club in Wicker Park, organizers said.
Anyone interested in volunteering for the event should email info@subt.net.
This year's Green Music Fest will be held June 18th and 19th along Damen Avenue between North Avenue and Schiller Street in Wicker Park.
