Garage Burglaries in Beverly, Morgan Park Prompt Community Alert

BEVERLY — A string of seven garage burglaries in Beverly and Morgan Park prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue a community alert Thursday.

The burglaries occurred between midnight and 6 a.m. from March 11 to Tuesday. The garages were all broken into by someone using a pry tool.

The burglaries occurred:

• March 11 in the 2100 block of West 110th Street in Morgan Park

• March 17 in the 10500 block of South Leavitt Street in Beverly

• March 17 in the 10600 block of South Claremont Avenue in Beverly

• April 12 in the 11800 block of South Artesian Avenue in Morgan Park

• Friday in the 10400 block of South Bell Avenue in Beverly

• Sunday in the 10400 block of South Oakley Avenue in Beverly

• Tuesday in the 10400 block of South Campbell Avenue in Beverly

Morgan Park District police recommend keeping all back gates and yard fences locked. Police also recommended that motion-activated lights be installed on property such as garages.
