BRIDGEPORT — If you’re looking for a place to build a raised garden bed for your summer vegetables, the neighborhood has a spot you'll want to check out.

It’s called Bridgeport Victory Gardens.

The garden sits in a lot across the street from the Martinez Supermarket in the 3200 block of South Morgan Street.

The lot features rows of garden beds, a compost pile and picnic bench.

Though the plots have all been booked, that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck this summer.

If you find enough untreated wood to build a bed and buy soil to fill it, you’ll get help setting up your plot.

“We’ll hook you up,” said, Corey Allbritten, a software developer and musician who, along with Maren Celest, created the Bridgeport Victory Gardens in 2014.

The couple started the garden to help beautify Morgan Street. Allbritten plans to build a wooden fence and install and official sign at the front of the garden.
