CHICAGO — Applications are now open for up to 10,000 paid internships and apprenticeship programs through After School Matters, according to a Monday announcement.

Teenagers can make up to $745 learning anything from music recording to Web development, creative writing, cooking and gardening.

The program was pushed to expand after fielding more than 20,000 applications in 2015, officials said.

"Chicago's youth deserve a safe, productive and inspiring summer program experience that will prepare them for college, careers and beyond," said After School Matters CEO Mary Ellen Caron, according to a Monday news release. "When we invest in young people, we tell them that they matter."

Teens can browse and apply for any of 600 programs on the After School Matters website.

Advanced apprenticeship programs will begin on June 27, the announcement said, and all others will get underway on July 5.
