UPTOWN — Fat Cat Bar is hoping to do some good for its neighbors with what it has dubbed the Uptown Initiative.

From 5-7 p.m. April 20, the Fat Cat team will "provide a warm and nutritious meal for residents at Mercy Housing Lakefront’s Malden Arms Apartments" at 4727 N. Malden St. The Malden is a permanent supportive housing property with 83 residents, according to a press release from Mercy Housing.

"These residents have struggled with some of life’s most difficult challenges: poverty, homelessness, hunger, addiction, poor health conditions, lack of education. The stability of safe and affordable housing is key to their ability to create better health outcomes and improved economic security for themselves," the release said.

The bar at 4840 N. Broadway partnered with Mercy Housing Lakefront for the initiative, which will also include specials to raise money for the home's sewing team and other projects, as well as food and clothing drives.
