Logan Square Record Shops, Bars Gear up For Record Store Day

LOGAN SQUARE — Rare records, live music and free pizza, coffee and doughnuts for those waiting in line are the highlights of this weekend's annual Record Store Day.

There are six official Record Store Day events being hosted in Logan Square.

Boiler Room Pop-Up Shop and Brunch, 2210 N. California Ave.

Boiler Room and Pabst Blue Ribbon are teaming up for a Record Store Day Brunch from noon-4 p.m. Boiler Room's heated patio will host the pop-up record shop. There will be live performances by Molehill, Model Stranger and A Friend Called Fire along with a DJ set by Miss Alex White. Guests get a free PBR will every purchase.

Bric-a-Brac Records, 3156 W. Diversey Ave.

Neighborhood record shop Bric-a-Brac will be providing coffee from Wormhole and doughnuts from Donut Vault for customers seeking rare releases. There will also be free pizza later in the day from Dimo's and performances throughout the day by The Lisa Louise Squeeze, Bruised Strange Relations, Ovef Ow, KO, Bleach Party and THING. Comfort Station Numero Group Pop-Up, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Comfort Station is hosting a pop-up for record store day for the sixth year in a row. Numero Group, an archival record label based in Chicago, will have every in-print Numero LP, CD, 25 and "other debris on hand" at the pop-up. There will also be a limited edition cassette with early Chicago hip-hop pioneers Stony Island. The group will perform live at 2 p.m., ending a 20-year hiatus. The pop-up runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

FeelTrip Parts and Labor Pop-Up, 2700 N Milwaukee Ave.

Local label FeelTrip is teaming up with Pabst Blue Ribbon for a pop-up record store at Parts and Labor. The event will run from noon-4 p.m. and feature free stuff from FeelTrip and Bae Cutler. 

Logan Hardware, 2532 W. Fullerton Ave.

The shop will be business as usual on Record Store Day, but the event coincides with a retrospective of Chicago artist George Hansen, whose work is on display at the shop.

Saki, 3716 W. Fullerton Ave/

Saki will open at 9 a.m. and will feature live performances on the hour from 1-8 p.m. Saki will have an extensive stock of Record Store Day records, available at sakistore.net. There is a limit of one Record Store Day title per customer. The shop will also be raffling tickets to the Pitchfork Music Festival.
