LOGAN SQUARE — Bikers on The 606 will now be able to perform quick tune-ups during rides — without leaving the trail.

The Trust for Public Land with the help of West Town Bikes installed self-service bike repair stations along the trail this week.

The repair stations are located at Ridgeway, Walsh Park at ground level and on the north side of the trail at Talman.

The stations allow for minor bike repairs and have a tire pump.

A group of Bike Ambassadors from West Town Bikes will be at a number of locations along the trail Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to kick off the bike riding season on The 606.

The ambassadors will be conducting air, brake and chain-safety checks as well as filling tires, distributing rules of the road pamphlets, fitting bike helmets and helping with minor tune-ups.

The ambassadors will be at Walsh, Churchill, Milwaukee/Leavitt and Julia de Burgos parks for the "Ready, Set, Ride" event.
