CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a Brighton Park shooting Sunday night, according to police.

The boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 3100 block of West 40th Street at 8:40 p.m. when a gray SUV pulled up and someone inside opened fire, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman.

He was shot in his right leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in "stable" condition, Estrada said. Police could not detail the extent of his injuries.

The boy is a documented gang member, police said. No arrests have been made.
