LAKEVIEW — A senior citizen pushing a walker out of her Lakeview home was forced back inside and robbed by a man on Easter, according to police and surveillance video.

Just before 9 a.m. Sunday, police said the 75-year-old woman was inside a home in the 3600 block of Pine Grove Avenue when a man pushed her to the ground and robbed her.

Police released a video showing a man wearing a blue jacket and black hat pushing someone to the ground in a building lobby and walking away with what appears to be a wallet.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the robbery is encouraged to call detectives at 312-744-8263.

The attack took place days before police are expected to update the Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) on the ongoing efforts to increase manpower in the Town Hall District, also known as the 19th District.

Additional officers were transferred into the district Sunday, Tunney said. The interim superintendent's chief of staff will update the ward on the total number of officers and the transfer details this week, the alderman said.

At that point, "we will share all documentation," the alderman promised in his weekly email newsletter.

Earlier this month, Tunney acknowledged the department had not reached a net increase of 25 officers yet this year.

City officials pledged to add 25 officers in the first three months of 2016, in addition to eight transferred in November. Another 10 officers should be added by the end of the year, Tunney said.

Since February, Tunney has contradicted his initial statement, now saying the total net increase will be 35 officers, lumping in the November transfers with 2016 additions. He has declined to clarify through his spokeswoman.

Neighbors are alarmed by the rise in winter crime, particularly noted on Lakeview's west side, which is often referred to as safer than more densely traveled areas like Wrigleyville or the area surrounding the CTA Belmont station.
