Bridgeport's Martinez Supermarket Tagged With Graffiti

By Ed Komenda | March 28, 2016 6:17am

BRIDGEPORT — Sometimes spring smells like fresh graffiti.

Last week the owners of Martinez Supermarket at 3301 S. Morgan St. discovered an upside-down crown and the symbol of the Canaryville-based Insane Deuces street gang spray-painted on their side door and several cars on the block.

The overturned crown is meant to disrespect members of the Latin Kings. The Insane Deuces made the news in 2015 when a 21-year-old member was charged in a brutal mob stabbing of a brother and sister at Taylor-Lauridsen Park.

Jesus Martinez, the supermarket's owner, covered the graffiti with his own spray paint. A surveillance camera captured the gang members in the act.

The Martinez family gave the video to police.

If you find graffiti in your neighborhood, you can report it online here.
