PORTAGE PARK — A new sculpture that features a cube of negative space within a massive metallic cube now balances along Milwaukee Avenue in the Six Corners Shopping District as part of this year’s Chicago Sculpture Exhibit.

"Cubis Largo" by Ron Gard, a stainless steel sculpture, was installed Monday near Milwaukee and Berteau avenues as part of the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit, which will include Jefferson Park and Portage Park for the third year in a row.

The sculpture was installed thanks to contributions from Ald. John Arena (45th), Arts Alive Chicago, the Six Corners Association and organizers of the annual exhibit, said Owen Brugh, Arena's chief of staff.

Gard's sculpture, which exhibit organizers said not only demonstrates Gard's technical ability but also his mastery of mathematics, was also part of the exhibit in in 2014, when it was installed in Lincoln Park near the now shuttered John Barleycorn restaurant.
