EDGEWATER — Ladies and gentlemen, the show at the brand new Edge Theatre is about to begin.

In just a few short weeks, the formerly vacant storefront at 5451 N. Broadway will be buzzing with its first audience as the L'il Buds Theatre Company debuts the theater's first show, "Penelope Pennyworth Girl Detective: Case of the Boogeyman."

The theater has been in the works for the last two years, and in January got its liquor and amusement licenses it needs to be a full-service theater.

Though L'il Buds, a theater company that specializes in youths, will call the theater its permanent home, other companies will be able to utilize the space for rehearsals, as well as rent offices, and take classes.

On Saturday, April 16, the theater is throwing an open house party from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for the public to come take a look inside, ask questions, get tours and even sample some of the classes the space will be offering.

That same weekend, L'il Buds' "Penelope Pennyworth" will be giving its first showing. If seeing the show that weekend and buying tickets at the door, mention "open house" for a $5 discount, or get tickets here.
