ENGLEWOOD — One man was killed and two others were wounded, one critically, in two separate shootings in Englewood on Monday, March 21, police said.

Around 8:50 p.m., two men were driving in the 2000 block of West 70th Place when someone shot at them from the street, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

One man, 39, was shot in his back and his head, Estrada said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The man has been identified as Marcus Smith, who was shot in the same street where he lived, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Smith was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m.

The other man, 38, was shot three times in his side and once in his left arm, Estrada said. He was also taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
