Humboldt Park Shooting Kills 16-Year-Old, Wounds 2 Others, Police Say

By Kelly Bauer | March 18, 2016 8:33am

CHICAGO — Three teenagers were shot, one fatally, while walking in Humboldt Park on Thursday night, police said.

At 7:10 p.m., the three were walking on the sidewalk in the 800 block of North St. Louis Avenue when a light-colored car pulled up and a man got out and opened fire on the group, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in his chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Sedevic said. The boy was identified as Lucas Spicer, of the 1600 block of South Central Park Avenue, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Spicer was pronounced dead at 7:51 p.m.

An 18-year-old man was shot in his chest and neck and was taken to Stroger in "very critical" condition, Sedevic said. A 19-year-old man's leg was grazed and he took himself to Norwegian American Hospital, where he was treated and released before police could speak to him.

The three victims were documented gang members, police said.

No one was in custody.
