CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was shot late Wednesday while driving on Lake Shore Drive, police said.
At 10:30 p.m., the man was driving in the 500 block of North Lake Shore Drive when someone in a black SUV fired shots at the car, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The victims' car crashed while the shooters drove off.
Police responding to a report of a crashed car found the 22-year-old man shot in his lower back. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital in "stable" condition, Sedevic said. Another passenger in the car, a 25-year-old man, was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital after having an anxiety attack.
The victims are documented gang members, police said.
