MARQUETTE PARK — A 25-year-old man died after he was shot in his head while driving in Marquette Park late Tuesday night, police said.

Around 10:40 p.m., the man was driving an SUV in the 3200 block of West 64th Place when someone pulled up alongside him and shot at him, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

After being shot, Estrada said, the man crashed the SUV into a garage.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Victor Navarrette, of the 3200 block of West 65th Street.

Police said he was a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
