PORTAGE PARK — Food lovers can gorge on a buffet of specialties from Far Northwest Side restaurants for a good cause at the Taste of Thorp to benefit O.A. Thorp Scholastic Academy.
The annual fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at Biagio, 4242 N. Central Ave. All proceeds will be used to spruce up the outdoor area around the school and buy new equipment for the school's computer lab, organizers said.
Parents and school officials have been working for several years to turn the area around the school into a state-of-the-art green space and learning garden.
An online auction of a variety of goods and services from businesses near the school at 6024 W. Warwick Ave. will take place through Thursday.
Tickets at the door are $40 per person, said organizers with the Friends of Thorp, a parent group that raises money for special projects at the school.
Silent and live auctions will also take place at the event, organizers said.
