CHICAGO — A man was found shot to death in West Garfield Park early Thursday morning, according to police.

The man was found by officers unresponsive on the ground in the 4600 block of West Monroe at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. Police did not know his age.

He had been shot in the side of his head and was pronounced dead on scene, Estrada said.

The man was identified as Askia Wajd, 37, of the 4500 block of West Jackson Boulevard, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Wajd was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. of multiple gunshot wounds.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing and no arrests have been made, Estrada said.
