Rash of Burglaries in Area Leads to Warning From Police

BRIDGEPORT — There has been a rash of burglaries in the area, according to Deering District detectives.

Police said the crimes took place:

• Between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on a day between Feb. 14-16 in the 4600 block of South Whipple Street

• Between 7 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. Feb. 16 in the 3100 block of South May Street

• Between 5 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Feb. 23 in the 2500 block of West 46th Street

• Between 10 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. Feb. 25 in the 3000 block of South Lock Street

• Between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. March 1 in the 4300 block of South Albany Avenue

• Between 9:45 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. March 3 in the 3300 block of South Morgan Street

• Between 4:50 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 5 in the 2700 block of West 47th Street

Here’s what Chicago Police say you can do to keep your homes and property safe:

• Keep your property well lit

• Report all suspicious activity

• Keep doors and windows secured

• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks

• If video surveillance is available, make a copy of the footage of the crime for detectives.

• If your home is burglarized, do not touch anything. Call police instead.

• If you find witnesses, request their contact information for detectives.
