CHICAGO — Brasserie by LM, 800 S. Michigan Ave., will close close on March 20 to make way for at least two years worth of renovations.

The extended hiatus is expected to last between 2 and 2½ years, according to a news release.

The new Brasserie by LM will be located at the base of the Essex Hotel and Tower project and is expected to open in the summer of 2018.

Construction on the residential tower, developed by a joint venture of Oxford Capital Group, LLC and Quadrum Global, is expected to start in July.

Brasserie will serve brunch from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. March 20 and will offer an all-day special of $1 draft beers, while supplies last.

The restaurant will close after dinner that night.

“As business owners it’s been very exciting to watch the South Loop neighborhood develop over the past several years, not to mention see the exciting plans for the future,” Brasserie owners Nicole and Stephan Outrequin Quaisser said. “We look forward to continuing to serve this vibrant and growing community in 2018 and beyond.”
