CHICAGO — As fate would have it, Chicago had record high temperatures Sunday — just two days before the official March 1 start of the sidewalk café season.

But despite the current cold and snow in the forecast, the outdoor seating (and eating) season officially has begun — and doesn't end until Dec. 1.

Check out a current map of more than 225 sidewalk cafés that have received permits from the city to serve food and drink outdoors as of early March. Most spots that have permits are in the River North/Downtown areas.

Don't worry if your favorite restaurant isn't on here; the list will undoubtedly grow as the weather gets nicer and more restaurants and bars open their outdoor areas.

If you have your heart set on eating outside, contact the restaurants to make sure their outdoor seating is open that day.
