ROGERS PARK — Police are warning students at Loyola University's North Side campus about an attempted armed robbery early Friday morning.

Around 3:40 a.m., two people were sitting in a parked car at 1331 W. Loyola Ave. when two men approached, one holding a gun, Loyola's campus police said in an email to students.

The men demanded the keys to the car, but after someone in the car started screaming, the suspects ran off, police said.

The robbers appeared to be 19 or 20 years old, 5-foot-8 and 140-160 pounds, police said.

One man was wearing a black mask with an orange coat and dark pants, and the other was wearing a black mask, gray coat, hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants.

Last Friday, Loyola police said two Loyola students and a Rogers Park resident were approached by several men who knocked them down and hit them. One of the victims had his wallet stolen, police said.

Those with information should call Loyola Campus Safety at 773-508-6039, or the Chicago Police Department 312-744-8263.
