NORWOOD PARK — Two construction workers remodeling a house in Oriole Park were injured in an explosion Friday evening, Chicago fire officials said.

The workers were using a cutting tool while remodeling a home in the 7800 block of West Rascher Avenue near Ozanam Avenue when the incident occurred, fire officials said.

A cutting tool ignited gas, creating a flash fire and causing a "concussion" blast that blew out a large picture window, fire officials said. The workers suffered burns to their hands and faces.

No one else was home at the time of the incident, according to ABC7.

The workers were taken in serious condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, fire officials said.
