BELMONT CRAGIN — A 22-year-old man died after being shot in his back in Belmont Cragin early Friday morning, police said.
Around 1:15 a.m., the man got out of a sedan in the 5500 block of West Grand Avenue and approached two police officers, telling them he'd been shot, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The officers called an ambulance, which brought the man to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, Pacheco said. He was later pronounced dead.
The man has been identified as Courtney Copeland, of the 1800 block of South Austin Boulevard, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Police could not immediately provide any information on the shooting.
No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
