COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man on parole for armed robbery has been charged with breaking into cars in Lakeview, Lincoln Park and River North.

Darneil Stanfort, 27, told police "he hit so many cars in the garages that he can't remember all of them," Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said during a bond hearing Wednesday.

That didn't stop prosecutors from charging Stanfort in a string of North Side car burglaries.

The first happened on Feb. 8 when Stanfort stole two credit cards from a Toyota pickup truck parked in the 2300 block of North Lincoln Avenue, court records show.

Stanfort then on Feb. 19 stole a Visa credit card from a GMC Yukon truck parked in the 3200 block of North Halsted Street, prosecutors said. He is also accused of rifling through an Audi A6 parked in the 700 block of North Rush Street on the same day.

Stanfort, of suburban Hazel Crest, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools and three counts of burglary.

He was arrested Monday in suburban Chicago Heights after authorities issued an arrest warrant for a parole violation, according to police and court documents. Stanfort was carrying heroin and burglary tools at the time, authorities said.

Stanfort was previously convicted of armed robbery in 2012 and sentenced to six years in prison. He was released on parole in March 2015, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas on Wednesday ordered Stanfort held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
