EDGEBROOK — A Hawaiian-themed dinner and dance will raise money for Wildwood Elementary School, organizers said.

Wildwood at Waikiki will take place from 5:30-11 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn North Shore, 5300 W. Touhy Ave., Niles, organizers said. It is the school's 16th annual Spring Fling fundraiser.

Attendees are invited to wear board shorts and grass skirts for a night of drinks, dinner, music and dancing to support the school at 6950 N. Hiawatha Ave., organizers said.

Tickets — available online — are $95, while admission at the door will cost $105, organizers said.

Proceeds from the event will be used to "support a wide array of Wildwood programs not accessible within the confines of the Chicago Public School system budget."

Earlier this month, Wildwood saw its budget slashed by more than 3 percent as part of district-wide cuts ordered by Chicago Public Schools officials to fill a $480 million budget deficit.

Principal Mary Beth Cunat said she planned to fill the $58,000 deficit by redirecting money raised for the school's athletic and music programs, as well as the proceeds from the school's annual Spring Fling fundraiser.
