Garfield Park Shooting Kills 23-Year-Old Man Wednesday, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man was found shot to death Wednesday night in Garfield Park, officials said.

At 6:24 p.m., police found the man's body in the 400 block of South Kilpatrick Street, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

The man was identified as Diamond Garner, 23, of the 1200 block of South 17th Avenue in Maywood, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Garner was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m. of a gunshot wound to his head in a homicide.

Police originally said the victim was 34.

No one was in custody.
