WEST RIDGE — A West Ridge woman’s bad situation got worse when the man who apparently found her lost wallet demanded sex in exchange for its safe return.

Police say an unidentified “John” is attempting to extort the 38-year-old for sex after finding the wallet near an apartment building in the 2800 block of West Estes Avenue.

According to a Chicago Police report, the victim had an anonymously written letter dropped in her mailbox in early February, several weeks after losing her wallet. The letter writer claimed to be in possession of the woman’s wallet and demanded sex in exchange for its return.

"I have your wallet,” the hand-written note read. “If you want it back you’ll have to have sex with me. If you don’t believe me, I have proof.”

Inside the envelope the man included one of the woman’s missing credit cards, police said. The woman told police the wallet had multiple credit and debit cards, health insurance information and her driver’s license.

No return address or other information was included with the letter, according to police.
