Catalytic Converters Stolen from Cars in Mount Greenwood, Morgan Park: CPD

 Police are looking for two men they believe stole catalytic converters from six different cars on the Far Southwest Side Saturday afternoon, according to a community alert sent Wednesday.

MOUNT GREENWOOD — Police are looking for two men they believe stole catalytic converters from six different cars on the Far Southwest Side Saturday afternoon, according to a community alert sent Wednesday.

Police said surveillance footage shows two men exiting a light-colored sedan. One of the men then crawls under a car to cut off its converter while the other man stands watch.

The thefts all occurred between 3 and 6:30 p.m. on the following blocks:

• The 10300 block of South Central Park Avenue

• The 10400 block of South Lawndale Avenue

• The 10500 block of South Millard Avenue

• The 3800 block of West 109th Street

• The 11000 block of South Talman Avenue

• The 11400 block of South Washtenaw Avenue

Police are asking residents to take note of any idling cars, or people holding hand-held power saws, which police believe the thieves used to remove the converters.

Anyone with information on the thefts or the suspects is encouraged to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
