Teen Who Walked Into Uptown Hospital Shot Himself, Police Say

UPTOWN — A 16-year-old boy walked into Weiss Memorial Hospital, 4646 N. Marine Dr., with a gunshot wound in his hand Thursday afternoon, police said.

The boy arrived at the hospital around 5:20 p.m. and was listed in good condition, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member, and they believe his gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

Police could not immediately provide the location of the shooting.
