ROGERS PARK — The last two playgrounds in Rogers Park whe have yet to receive a much-needed makeover are about to get one.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, a community meeting with Ald. Joe Moore (49th) and the Chicago Park District will be held at the Loyola Park Fieldhouse Gym, 1230 W. Greenleaf Ave., for residents to view and vote for new Leone Beach Park and Loyola Beach Park designs.

Each park has five different options, and both adults and children are encouraged to cast a vote.

If no clear winner emerges, Moore said he'll hold an additional voting round between the top contenders.

The majority of the 12 parks in the 49th Ward have already received upgrades, nine of which were funded through Mayor Rahm Emanuel's Chicago Plays! initiative, which gave parks $120,000 for improvements.

At least one park, Touhy Park, was updated through Moore's aldermanic menu funds.
