AUBURN GRESHAM — A man who was stabbed in his chest Sunday died days later, and a girl has been charged for the attack, police said.

On Feb. 7 around 1:15 a.m., a 22-year-old man was in the 7600 block of South Damen Avenue when he got into an argument with a 15-year-old girl, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The "argument turned physical" and he was stabbed in his chest, Lemmon said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Lemmon said.

Hassan Childs, of the 7600 block of South Seeley, died three days later on Feb. 10 at 9:37 a.m. at the hospital, according to Cook County Medical Examiner's records.

The 15-year-old girl stayed on the scene after the stabbing and was placed into police custody, Lemmon said. She was charged as a juvenile with one felony count of aggravated battery.

Police had no update to her charges as of Saturday. Police do not name juveniles charged in crimes.
