AUSTIN— A man died in an Austin shooting Thursday, police said.

At 7:40 p.m., an 18-year-old man was walking in the 5900 block of West Le Moyne Street in Austin when he was shot in the chest and back, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man managed to get to the 1400 block of North Mayfield Avenue, where an ambulance was called, Estrada said.

Tony Jones, of the 2700 block of West Concord Place, identified by the medical examiner's office, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition, Estrada said.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:13 p.m., Estrada said.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
