SOUTH CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man was killed in a South Chicago shooting Tuesday night, police said.

At 10:33 p.m. the man was walking in the 8100 block of South Houston Avenue when he was shot in his buttocks, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:42 p.m., according to Estrada and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The man has been identified as Hector Del Rio, who lived in the same block where he was shot, according to the medical examiner.

Police said Del Rio was a documented gang member.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
