Work Vans Being Stolen in Beverly Area for Tools and Equipment, Police Say

BEVERLY — Work vans parked on the streets of Beverly and Morgan Park are being stolen by thieves looking for tools and other work equipment, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Police in the Morgan Park District issued a community alert Wednesday saying Ford Econoline vans have become a favorite of thieves. Four such vans parked on residential streets have been stolen between midnight-7 a.m. Dec. 1-Saturday.

The crimes occurred on:

• Dec. 1 in the 11400 block of South Talman Avenue in Morgan Park

• Thursday in the 9800 block of South Damen Avenue in Beverly

• Thursday in the 9700 block of South Seeley Avenue in Beverly

• Friday in the 10500 block of South Artesian Avenue in Beverly

Police recommend all vehicle owners keep their doors locked and park in a locked garage whenever possible. They also recommend recording all serial numbers, makes and models of tools and equipment should a robbery occur and if the stolen goods are recovered.
