CANARYVILLE — Registration is now open for the Canaryville Little League, but you’ll need to act fast if you want your kid to play this year. Teams are filling up quick.

“We were expecting an increase, but this was a very large increase,” league president John Kozlar said. “It shows you how much excitement is around the league.”

On the first day of registration last week, more than 350 kids signed up. As of Monday morning, more than 450 players had registered.

The Boys Minor Division is 100 percent full, and a waiting list has been launched. There are still spots left in the Pee-Wee, Tee-Ball, Girls Minor and Boy's Major divisions.

Register here. There is no fee to register.

Kozlar said the Canaryville Little League staff is working hard to make this season the best yet — a miniature version of what players might experience in the big leagues.

“We try to make it as close to playing in the big leagues as possible,” Kozlar said. “The players' dreams can be endless, and it’s up to them to keep going forward."

In 2014, the league began a $60,000 transformation project to overhaul the area behind right field at 45th Place and Normal Avenue.
