Uptown Shootings Injure 2 Men, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two men were shot and wounded in separate incidents in Uptown, police said.

At 5 a.m. Thursday, a 37-year-old man was driving in the 900 block of West Winona Street when two men approached him and shot at him, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in the chest, arm and hand, Pacheco said. He took himself to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was in serious condition.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

Hours earlier, at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, a 23-year-old man was walking in the 900 block of West Agatite Avenue when he saw a man shoot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was hit in the stomach and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition, Pacheco said.

The man is a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in these incidents.
