CHICAGO — A Chicago Lawn man was shot in the doorway to his home while the shooter took aim at his fleeing son, police said.

At 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, the man was standing at his doorway in the 6400 block of South Claremont Avenue while his teenage son ran from gang members, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. Someone fired shots in the direction of the man's son.

The teen escaped inside the house, but the man was hit in the right leg. The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

No one was in custody.
