RIVERDALE — A 76-year-old man was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in Riverdale on Tuesday, according to police.

Police were performing a wellness check on the man in his house in the 13200 block of South Riverdale Avenue about noon Tuesday, said Officer Nicole Tennehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Officers then found the man, who had been shot in his cheek and buttocks, Tennehill said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Claude Cannon.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing, Tennehill said.

Multiple neighbors declined to comment.
