RIVER NORTH — A new food store and bar that includes a mini version of hamburger hotspot Au Cheval will open next month in River North.

3 Greens Market, led by restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff, will open in February at 354 W. Hubbard St., Sodikoff's Hogsalt Hospitality said in a press release Tuesday morning.

In addition to a Small Cheval, the store will include a bakery, coffee shop, hot and cold salad bars, cocktails and a Dillman's Pastrami Shop, another Hogsalt restaurant.

“3 Greens Market is based on the idea that you can eat what you want, when you want, be it healthy or indulgent,” Sodikoff said in a statement. “We’re finally giving the neighborhood what it's been asking for.”

Guests will be able to watch movies or play board games in the grocery's C.C. Ferns coffee shop, or work from communal wooden tables. Visitors can also order a Small Cheval burger or Dillman's sandwich straight from the store's 18-foot-long salad bar.

Sodikoff's company runs restaurants, including the 3 Arts Club in the Gold Coast's new Restoration Hardware, but is perhaps best known for Au Cheval, the West Loop eatery where people wait hours for a cheeseburger.

3 Greens will take over the shuttered Cocello restaurant, which Sodikoff closed in June. Last summer, Hogsalt posted the name of a new bakery to the storefront, but apparently opted for a different concept.

The grocery will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lunch service will start at 11 a.m.
