ENGLEWOOD — Kennedy-King College's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Tuesday will have a special guest.
The keynote speaker is the Rev. Kwame John R. Porter, a Civil Rights activist who first marched with King in 1962 in Georgia. The breakfast will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of the college's U Building, 740 W. 63rd St.
The program will include a musical performance by Chicago vocalist and guitarist Valencia Bey and a spoken word performance by Eric Griffin. The event, which is open to the community, will celebrate the life and legacy of King.
Porter launched Chicago's Southern Christian Leadership Chapter in 1964. He's the author of six books, a Chicago History Makers inductee and an Army veteran.
