COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Near West Side man stole two laptops, urinated in a hallway and emptied a mini-bar after he checked into a Downtown Hyatt with a fake credit card, prosecutors said.

Robert Watkins, 23, racked up more than $1,200 in charges during his Dec. 12-13 stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 151 E. Wacker Drive, according to Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti, who spoke during a bond hearing Friday.

Prosecutors allege Watkins invited several guests to his hotel room, where he charged multiple drinks.

The mini-bar was empty by the time Watkins checked out, prosecutors said, and surveillance footage shows him breaking into a concierge desk and stealing two laptops.

Watkins also wascaught urinating in a hallway, Antonietti said.

When Watkins checked in to the Hyatt on Dec. 12, he used a fake credit card number — but provided his real state ID, prosecutors said.

Watkins was arrested Thursday and charged with felony theft. According to Antonietti, Watkins admitted to the crime.

Cook County Judge Laura Sullivan on Friday ordered Watkins held in lieu of $40,000 bail.
