CHICAGO — A 25-year-old to man was shot to death in the Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place hotel early Saturday.

The man was in the lobby of the hotel, 2233 S. King Dr., at 2:20 a.m. when an argument broke out and somebody pulled out a gun and opened fire, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was struck in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Sedevic said. The victim was later identified as 25-year-old Courtney Taylor of the 6800 block of South Paulina Avenue, according to county records. No others were injured in the shooting.

There have been no arrests in the case, Sedevic said.

More than a half dozen police SUVs pulled up to the hotel early Saturday and people were cleared from the lobby. Loved ones of the victim grieved on the sidewalk outside.

A group of onlookers watched from outside the hotel windows as stunned-looking witnesses were interviewed by officers.

Christine Ludke, a hotel guest who was leaving early Saturday, told reporters that it appeared the shooting happened in front of the concierge desk.

A Hyatt spokeswoman said the hotel is working with police in their investigation into the fatal shooting.

"At Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, the safety and security of our guests, associates and visitors is a top priority," spokeswoman Stephanie Sheppard said in a statement. "This appears to be an isolated incident, however the hotel is taking all appropriate precautions in an effort to ensure that guests and hotel associates remain in a safe environment. We also want to extend our sympathies to the family of the deceased."
