LOGAN SQUARE — Saturday is the last chance for residents of the 35th Ward to submit their ideas for how to spend more than $1 million this year.

For the first time in ward history, it's up to residents to submit ideas and vote on how to spend the annual $1.32 million of "menu money" that is typically spent on infrastructure projects.

The new process, known as participatory budgeting, is currently used in a handful of wards across Chicago.

Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th) decided to implement the new budgeting practice in his first year in office.

The meeting will be held at Northeastern Illinois University's El Centro building, 3390 N. Avondale Ave. from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Saturday will be the last ward-wide assembly to collection ideas, but residents can contribute at www.aldermancarlosrosa.org/pb.
