CHICAGO — Giovani Salgado, 21, has been identified as the man who was fatally shot in Rogers Park Monday night, officials said.
At 11:45 p.m., police found Salgado, who was unresponsive, in the passenger seat of a car in the 6800 block of North Ridge Boulevard, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman. He had been shot in his back and chest.
On Wednesday the medical examiner identified Salgado as being 21, not 20 as police initially believed. He lived in the 6400 block of North Damen Avenue in West Ridge.
Salgado was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Sedevic said.
He was a documented gang member, according to police.
No one is in custody in the shooting.
