CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy accidentally shot himself after playing with a handgun in an Austin home early Saturday, according to police.
The teen told officers he was handling a handgun inside a home in the 5500 block of West Adams Street, according to Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman. He accidentally set the gun off, shooting himself in the chin, Estrada said.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, Estrada said. No arrests have been made in the case, he said.
