CHICAGO — Cedrick Chatman, 17, was shot dead by police while he ran, unarmed, in the opposite direction of officers on Jan. 7, 2013.

On Thursday, a video of the incident was released after three years. While the video is introducing some outsiders to the case for the first time, Chatman's family has been in a legal battle with the city for years.

Here, read the wrongful death complaint filed by family lawyers against the officers involved in the shooting and the city. Below that, read the Officer Lou Toth and Kevin Fry's response to the allegations against them.
