SOUTH LOOP — Police are on the lookout for a man caught on tape robbing two South Loop convenience stores in the past week, according to a community alert issued Wednesday.

First, police said, the man was recorded robbing a store in the 800 block of South Wabash Avenue at 10:42 p.m. Saturday. They believe the same man robbed another store one block over, in the 800 block of South State Street, at 9:57 p.m. Monday.

In both cases, police said, the man walked into the store, pulled out a black revolver and demanded money from the clerk.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20s or 30s with a dark complexion, between 5 feet, 8 inches and 6 feet tall. At the time of the robberies he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and blue high top shoes.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the robberies is encouraged to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8384.
