ROGERS PARK — A pair of teenaged gang members told police they survived a daytime Rogers Park shooting by driving after the car with the shooter inside and ramming it with their own car.

The Jan. 6 mayhem began with two reputed Latin Kings, age 17 and 18, being fired at around 1:40 p.m. while they were in a car in the 2200 block of West Farwell Avenue, according to police.

The two teens managed to chase the shooters' car and used their own vehicle to ram it, police said. The shooter's vehicle slammed into several cars on West Pratt Boulevard, according to a police report.

One of the damaged vehicles had bulletholes in its rear bumper, police said. Officers who retraced the course of the pursuit recovered eight spent bullet casings and one spent bullet on Farwell Avenue, the report stated.

Neither teen provided police with the description of the driver or shooter, according to the report. Neither was injured by the shots or from ramming the second vehicle, police said.

No arrests have been made yet, police said.

The Rogers Park incident occurred at nearly the same time as a shoot-and-chase situation in Lincoln Square, but was not related, police said.

In the Lincoln Square incident, a man was shot and seriously injured near Winnemac Park around 1:50 p.m. on Jan. 6. Neighbors said rival gang members were chasing each other and one car crashed into a fence.
