Woman Walking at LaSalle and Division Hit By Truck And Severely Injured

By David Matthews | January 12, 2016 12:59pm | Updated on January 12, 2016 1:39pm

RIVER NORTH — A woman walking in River North was hit by a passing truck and severely injured.

She is listed in critical condition after getting hit at LaSalle and Division streets around 12:30 p.m., said Larry Langford, a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and the woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, he said.

The woman was walking through a crosswalk at LaSalle and Division when she was struck by a Home Run Inn distribution truck, witnesses said. Dan Costello, a spokesman for the Woodridge-based pizza chain, confirmed that a Home Run Inn truck was involved, but said it was driven by an outside party and not a company employee. He deferred further questions to another Home Run Inn executive who could not be immediately reached for comment.
